HEY PARENTS!

Welcome to the official newsletter for all things Language Arts and Mr. Goldhammer. The purpose of this newsletter is simple: to allow parents and guardians a way to stay informed about their student's Language Arts experience and to promote involvement in his/her education. This newsletter is updated regularly and should be a great way to finally get an answer to that dreaded "what'd you learn at school today" question students so cleverly try to avoid. As "Hey Parents!" is a bit of an experiment, be sure to pass on any comments or suggestions that you may have. Enjoy.

March 9

Just wanted to give everyone a quick reminder that the WASL is coming up this week!

For sophomore parents, this means your student will have 4 straight days of stressful testing. While they are definitely prepared, be aware that this week is especially demanding. Be on the look-out to make sure your student is getting plenty of rest, eating a solid breakfast, and finding some time to relax during this intense, high-stakes week. Pack em' a snack, sneak a note of encouragement into their pockets, buy them a lucky pencil...anything you can do to let them know you're thinking of them and that you know they'll do just fine.

For freshmen, WASL week is a bit complicated. While juniors and seniors get to sleep in for a few days, all freshmen students are still to required to be at school at the normal start time. Throughout the week, they'll be taking practice WASLs and having some info sessions with the counselors about choosing classes for next year...while not quite as stressful as the sophomore experience, they will definitely be busy.

Stay tuned for:
-Sophomore updates regarding our next book--Frankenstein
-Creative Writing's progress on their recent "setting" work
-and the LA 9ers upcoming dive into Shakespeare.

...it should be interesting.

Thanks for checking in!
