THE DAILY POST

Welcome to The Daily Post! As the name suggests, this portion of the website is updated daily (right after school) and is designed for you to be able to access what was covered in class, from home. It's a great resource for last minute updates or if you are ever absent or find yourself confused about any specifics about homework, reading, due dates, vocab, etc.

Just consider it one more thing I do to make your life a bit easier...

Thanks for the great year everyone...it's been an absolute pleasure. Be sure to stay up late, sleep in, read something, travel, go outside, be yourself, and keep in touch.

LA 10 Honors
-Due: Symbolism organizers
-Final in-class essay on Catcher in the Rye. Due at the end of the period
-Handed back old assignments
-Turned in books (if you have any out, teachers will be in the building all day tomorrow...swing 'em by)

Monday 6/14

*due to the finals schedule, only periods 3-4 met today.

Friday 6/11

*due to the finals schedule, only periods 1-2 met today (and 5th...but not for a final)

-Due: Catcher + Lyrics projects (these needed to be turned in by the end of the day...all classes)
-Due: Symbolism Organizers
-Final in-class Catcher essay

-Make sure all books are turned in!

-Periods 3,5,6...symbolism organizers are due on the day of your final.

Thursday 6/10

LA 10 Honors
-Discussed yesterday's reading (chapters 25-26).
-Went over symbolism sheet
-Answered any final questions about tomorrow's Song project (click) or the upcoming final.

HW:
-Make sure your symbolism sheet is done by your final (points will be given)
-Song projects due tomorrow (before school/after school/between classes is fine to drop it off)



Creative Writing

-Finished up all but 2 final readings (these folks will read next week)
-Handed out Floodplain #16
-reminded everyone about book chats and final open letters

Wednesday 6/9

-Discussed last night's reading (Holden's image of the "catcher in the rye," Phoebe, Antolini)
-Read the final 2 chapters out loud in class...(5th period needs to finish chapter 26)

-Symbolism sheet due the day of your final
-As there was no time to do so in class, be prepared to discuss the last 2 chapters in depth...

-Jumped back into final readings (only 2 seniors left!)

LA 10 Honors
-Checked-in on everyone's "active reading" systems (assigned points)
-Went over the Catcher Song project that was assigned yesterday...clarified a few points, took a look at "That's Not Me" as a sample, etc.
-Discussed last night's reading (Allie's funeral, Carl Luce, Phoebe!)

HW:
-Read 22-24 (we'll finish the last 2 chapters out loud as a class)
-Song project due Friday
-Symbolism sheet due on the day of the final

LA 10 Honors
-Finished final vocab/lit quiz
-Scored these after everyone finished up
-Briefly (very briefly) discussed last night's reading...we'll dive fully in on Monday

-Bring in any old books you have yet to turn in

-Went straight to the lab for the last day of working on Lit riffs

Thursday 6/3

LA 10 Honors
-Came right in and began taking the final Vocab Quiz/Test. Due to the shortened periods because of Wildcat Blast, the Lit Quiz section is postponed until tomorrow...one more day to study.

-Read through chapter 15 for tomorrow
-Study your lit terms...we'll finish the quiz tomorrow

-Went through an "I am" exercise with the first 10 chapters...divided by chapters, went around the room and did some sharing
-Reminded everyone about this week's plan (vocab, reading, etc.)

-Aim to be through 13 for tomorrow...15 for Friday
-Final vocab and Lit tomorrow...make sure to review


Creative Writing
-Journals: Final Journal write (goodbye to journals)...need 15 entries (can turn in tomorrow)
-Due: 6-word stories and "list" stories...did some sharing
-Introduced Lit Riffs. Read "I Shot the Sheriff"
-Went to the lab and started working on Lit Riffs (picking songs, starting to write, etc...we'll be in there through Friday)

Tuesday 6/1

LA 10 Honors
-CD check on chapter 8
-Discussed the weekend's reading/reactions to the book thus far/key moments/etc.
-Handed out a symbolism organizer to begin working on as you read...filled in what we could so far.
-Explained this week's schedule

-Final vocab will be on Thursday...be sure to review.
-Need to read chapters 9-10 for tomorrow



Creative Writing
-No journals today....instead, jumped right into:
-6 word stories (read Hemmingway's famous: For sale: baby shoes, never used)...came up with 6 original 6-word stories on our own.
-Read: Love and Other Catastrophes: A Mix Tape...discussed the "list" style. Began working on an original "list-style" story. Read another sample from last year.

HW:
-6-word stories (you need 6 of 'em) and your original "list" piece are due at the start of class tomorrow
-Final open letter (seniors must write to their high school experience) are due by the end of the year.
