Welcome to The Daily Post! As the name suggests, this portion of the website is updated daily (right after school) and is designed for you to be able to access what was covered in class, from home. It's a great resource for last minute updates or if you are ever absent or find yourself confused about any specifics about homework, reading, due dates, vocab, etc.

-Took a look at a handout on the figurative language usage in chapter 9.
-Assigned the Fig. Language project: find 3 examples, illustrate it, provide some commentary as to what Hurston is trying to accomplish with it.
-Prepped everyone for tomorrow's sub day (vocab/lit quiz + independent work time)

-Looked at some "worst analogies ever"...examples of what to avoid.

-Discussed the "patterns and rules" as a class. Generated a master list and discussed as we went. Discussed the passage how the use of the vernacular impacts the meaning.
-Broke into groups and worked on the "In Hurston's Words" part of the handout--converting a simplified portion of the text back into the Black Vernacular using the patterns and rules picked out from before...discussed and turned in all work.
