THE DAILY POST

Welcome to The Daily Post! As the name suggests, this portion of the website is updated daily (right after school) and is designed for you to be able to access what was covered in class, from home. It's a great resource for last minute updates or if you are ever absent or find yourself confused about any specifics about homework, reading, due dates, vocab, etc.

Just consider it one more thing I do to make your life a bit easier...


Monday 3/31

LA 10 Honors
-Due: 20-22 questions
-Quickly discussed the weekend's reading
-Broke into groups of 3-4 and did some sharing of selected quotes...came back and discussed as a class

-Finish the novel and the final round of questions (click here for a copy)
-Continue to pull out quotes

Creative Writing

-Journal starter: "Spring" (must be written in first person)
-Due: Fruit journal check (8ish entries)
-Broke into small peer groups and did some group brainstorming for your partner/picture piece

HW:
-Initial draft of your partner/picture piece is due tomorrow...bring in 2-3 copies...typed, printed, complete, edited...as perfect as possible. Have this ready for the start of class.

-Broke into groups and did some sharing of sonnets
-Began working on The Prologue to Romeo and Juliet

Wednesday 3/26

-Quickly discussed last night's reading
-Broke into groups and began pulling out quotes from what we've read thus far...we'll continue discussing quotes tomorrow

-Spent the day with the students from Naga High School

-Continue working on partner/picture piece...be sure to come to class with what you have thus far. We will be in the lab tomorrow. Some evidence of a draft due on Friday.

-Journal Opener: "Time was slipping away"
-Briefly discussed tomorrow's visit from the Naga students
-Due: 1-page descriptive piece from yesterday's assigned picture (shared some of these in class)
-Discussed the next step: combining your character and your picture (who is this person? Why are they there?)

HW:
-Brief outline as to where you are headed with this piece (due tomorrow at the start of class)
-Evidence of a start/draft due Friday

-Due: Sonnet #29 work from yesterday (fully analyzed/translated)
-Broke up into small groups and went over last night's work + began working on #27
-Discussed sonnets as a class

Wednesday 3/12

WASL testing all morning...periods 1,2,3 only

LA 10 Honors
-Discussed Shelley's intro & preface
-Went over a handout on Romanticism and the Gothic novel
-Began working on a symbolism worksheet that asks you to think about possible symbols in the novel and what they might represent

HW:
-Finish up symbolism worksheet for Friday (follow the instructions, make sure you have a statement as to what each symbol represents)



Creative Writing
-Journals: "Floating"
-Due: interview questions for partner assignment
-Shared + discussed possible interview questions and developed/tweaked the ones you brought in
-Assigned partners (if gone, we can get all caught up on Friday)

HW:
-Get interview questions ready (this means type them out w/ room underneath) for Friday

Tuesday 3/11

WASL testing all morning...periods 4,5,6 only

-Did some more "class-scoring" from actual class sample essays

Monday 3/10

WASL testing all morning...periods 1,2,3 today only

LA 10 Honors
-Went through a quick introduction to Frankenstein
-Broke into groups and worked on "What we think we already know" about Frankenstein and possible themes the novel may hold
-Read the Biographical sketch on Mary Shelly (starting at page 252)

HW:
-Read the author's introduction and the preface for Wednesday



Creative Writing
-Journal starter: "It was failed from the start..."
-Due: Fruit check (3ish entries)
-Began transition from setting/detail into character
-Brainstormed memorable/favorite characters and the qualities such a character must have
-Introduced the interview/character assignment

HW:
-Come to class on Wednesday with 10 interview questions that will get your partner to open up and dig deep (if missed, swing by before Wednesday for the details)
-Need 22 daily journal entries for Friday (If you've missed any days this semester, check online to see what journals you've missed)

-Due: Place remix #1 (if gone, you can bring this tomorrow)
-Continued with the place remix assignment and chose another round of adjectives...spent 25ish minutes in class getting started on tonight's remixed piece

-Fruit check (minimum of 3 entries for Friday)
-Place remix #2 is due tomorrow (be sure to bring your stamped remix #1 as well)

-Discussed the rest of the week and the start of next week
