THE DAILY POST

Welcome to The Daily Post! As the name suggests, this portion of the website is updated daily (right after school) and is designed for you to be able to access what was covered in class, from home. It's a great resource for last minute updates or if you are ever absent or find yourself confused about any specifics about homework, reading, due dates, vocab, etc.

Just consider it one more thing I do to make your life a bit easier...

-Complete a "map" for a TV show. Be as detailed as possible. Include all of the terms mentioned above and the specific details from the show. Details (lots of them) are key to doing well on this assignment.

-Began reformatting and revising last night's film paragraph into the format covered in class (if you need another shaping sheet, a blank 3-chunk sheet can be downloaded from the Writing Center of this site...just cross out the last chunk, but don't forget the concluding sentence at the end)

Thursday 10/11

LA 10 Honors
-Due: Revised, edited, printed drafts
-Discussed proper MLA formatting. Went over Blue Sheet with Monkey (a copy can be downloaded from the Writing Center section of this website)
-Began discussing the media's portrayal of war and how there is a wide spectrum of views on it. To demonstrate this, we listened to a few songs: Bob Dylan's John Brown and Toby Keith's of the Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (Masters of War was also listened to...just because Goldhammer is kind of obsessed with Dylan).
-Assigned The War Media Project: find 4 artifacts (news, advertisements, songs, films, etc) that take a particular stance on war (aim for samples from across the spectrum). Your task is simple: bring in the artifact (if you can't, you'll need to describe it) and write 3-4 sentences of CM on it...what do you think? How does this connect to All Quiet? Do you agree? Disagree? etc.



HW:
-Essays are due on Tuesday at the start of class
-The War Media Project is due on Monday at the start of class

-Attended the "Living History" performances in the auditorium. Saw interpretations of To Kill a Mockingbird, Romeo and Juliet, and Thorton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth. This theater group will be back in our classroom on Wednesday.

HW:
-Typed, printed draft of your completed essay is due at the start of class tomorrow. Make sure you get this taken care of. Everything we do in class tomorrow will be dependent on you having a completed draft
