Welcome to The Daily Post! As the name suggests, this portion of the website is updated daily (right after school) and is designed for you to be able to access what was covered in class, from home. It's a great resource for last minute updates or if you are ever absent or find yourself confused about any specifics about homework, reading, due dates, vocab, etc.
Just consider it one more thing I do to make your life a bit easier...

LA 10 Honors
-Checked in on essays
-Introduced the class to the next few days' Blues + Eyes assignment.
-Introduction to the blues (history, samples, evolution, AAB + 12 bar+1/4/5 pattern).
-Got into groups and began working on lyrics/songs

Creative Writing
-Journals: song write (MMW's "Bubblehouse")
-Recapped yesterday's work with descriptive writing
-Introduced today's observational write--after going over the rules, ventured out onto campus to sit, observe, and write for approx. 20+ min.
-Came back, swapped, shared.
-Explained Thursday's HW: sit, look outside, out a window, etc. and observe/write for 20+ minutes.

-Due: AP passages 5 and 6. Collected and scored these in class.
-Discussed Tea Cake's introduction into the novel and his relationship with Janie.
-Took a look at a handout on the figurative language usage in chapter 9.
-Assigned the Fig. Language project: find 3 examples, illustrate it, provide some commentary as to what Hurston is trying to accomplish with it.
-Prepped everyone for tomorrow's sub day (vocab/lit quiz + independent work time)

-Got right into discussing details. Went over the Golden Details handout. Discussed.
-Looked at some "worst analogies ever"...examples of what to avoid.
-Began some Golden Detail practice. Got through about 4-5 different scenarios/ideas to describe. Did some sharing of these.
-Prepped everyone for tomorrow's sub day (you'll have an assignment on detailed, specific writing that should take you the whole period)

-Finished up discussing the syllabus (went over a few more 'additional' rules and procedures regarding the class)
-Broke into groups and discussed what makes "Good Writing"...brought this back to a full class discussion
-Got settled and right away began on this year's formal practice writing assessment.
-Wrote for the entire period. Stapled and turned in at the end of the period.

-Formulated some Thoughts on a Pear Tree (from pages 10-11). Discussed the purpose of this passage and what it symbolizes in the novel.
-Took a look at the first lines of the novel and broke down Hurston's argument on the difference between men/women. Turned in all of our notes and ideas from today (including the pear tree thoughts)
-Looked at a few other key passages from the chapters.
