PENGUINS
& TOAST
Penguins and toast. An interesting combination for sure. No
one is exactly certain when it all began, but the story
goes something like this:
"I'm done," said a student.
"Great," replied Mr.
Goldhammer.
"What do you want me to do now?"
"Draw me a picture."
"Of what?"
"Penguins."
"Penguins?"
"Penguins."
"That's it?"
"Umm...toss some toast in there as well"
"Toast?"
"Yeah. Penguins and toast."
"Penguins and toast?"
"Exactly."
So, penguins and toast was born. Thus far, hundreds of
thousands, maybe even millions, of images of the
combination have been created and are taking the art world
by storm. The pairing has showed up everywhere from
graffiti in subway stations to oil paintings hanging on the
walls of the Museum of Modern Art. The most prized pieces
however, remain at their source--room 303 of Mount Si High
School. Be sure to head over to the official Penguins and
Toast Gallery to see a rare sampling from this exclusive
collection. Once inside the gallery, click on each
individual piece for an optimized viewing experience.
